She earned her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Psychology and her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University. In addition, she holds a Masters Degree in Counseling from Rivier College where she graduated With Distinction. Linda has spent the last decade teaching seniors ways to remain safe and independent in their own homes, whether that home be their house, an assisted living apartment, or an independent living apartment.
She produced her first video, Fall Prevention for Seniors: How To Stay Safe and Independent in Your Home, in response to the growing problem of falls among the senior population. Her first book, Aging in America: One Healthcare Workers Perspective, was written to assist seniors, their families, and the people who care for seniors. Linda manages www.safeandindependent.com, a website dedicated to improving the lives of seniors and their loved ones. Safeandindependent.com has a home safety checklist, photos of useful equipment, photos of arm exercises, and tips for safe and independent living. In addition, the website offers an “Ask Linda” segment, where readers can submit questions related to senior living and caregiving.
Mrs. Schlenker also spends part of her time educating caregivers, seniors, and family about this important topic and continues to make home visits.
